PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a spread retaining clip to prevent the spread from rising or a page from returning when reading a book or magazine, and the clip to have a bookmark role at the time of interrupting the reading and the book attached with the clip in keeping folded to be piled up to other book while to be stood on a bookshelf without getting bulky and to be contained in a bag. SOLUTION: The spread retaining clip holds the cover sheet by the elastic force of a wide hairpin-shaped steel plate.
