摘要 PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for controlling cell transmission in an ATM are provided to prevent loss of an ATM cell possibly caused by inconsistency of an SOC(Start of Cell) between an ATM switch device and a routing table device. CONSTITUTION: A reverse current signal is transmitted to reverse current signal obtaining devices(310-313) from an ATM switch device. If even one of input signals to a reverse current signal control device(330) is '1', its output is '1'. Thus, if a reverse current signal of one proportional bandwidth queue is '1', cells in all the proportional bandwidth queues(320-323) are not transmitted. An output of the reverse current signal control device(330) is connected to an input of each of the proportional bandwidth queues(320-323). The proportional bandwidth queues(320-323) store the cells for multiplexing for sharing a line in cell transmission. Outputs of the high priority queue(320), the PB(Proportional Bandwidth) A queue(321), the PB B queue(322) and the PB C queue(323) are connected to inputs of FIFO buffers(120-123). A proportional bandwidth order table(340) determines a priority level of a proportional bandwidth queue to which the cell is to be transmitted.
