<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of recording the optional position image of large-sized image data on small-sized recording paper by selecting the image at an optional position and of optional size from the image of an original. <P>SOLUTION: An operation control means 24 interpolates and sets the size of recording paper (S12) when terminal coordinates are set, while it interpolates and sets the terminal coordinates (S13) so as to display (S14) when the size of the recording paper is set. By inserting the original (S15), reading the image of the original by an image reading means 40 is started. The read image data is stored (S16) in a storage device 43 by an image storing means 42. The image storing means 42 informs an image recording means 44 that storing the set optional position image in the storage device 43 is started.
