<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a defective image from being formed due to adhesive or paper powder component sticking to a drum surface when a label paper or recycled paper is used. <P>SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus using developer with fine powder particles added thereto, a back contrast is changed over by detection or inputting of the type of transfer material so that fine powder particles with a reverse polarity to the toner are developed and the fine powder particles are disposed between the transfer material and a drum to prevent the adhesive or the paper powder components from directly sticking to the drum.
