<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which does not cause an excessive temperature rise at a paper non-passing part at monochrome image forming time when many sheets of transfer material are made to pass per unit time without causing the temperature fall at the end of a roller at color image forming time. <P>SOLUTION: Whether an image forming apparatus is set in a full color mode or a monochrome mode is confirmed. When the monochrome mode is set, a 1st heater 13 is turned on according to output from a fixing temperature sensor 15, and when the full color mode is set, a 2nd heater 14 is turned on according to output from the sensor 15. Then, the on/off control of the respective heaters 13 and 14 is performed while aiming at 170°C being the target temperature of a fixing roller. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
