<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic motor capable of independently adjusting driving force and preliminary pressure and simplifying a manufacturing process. <P>SOLUTION: This ultrasonic motor comprises a columnar oscillator in which one end surface comes into contact with a moving element, a piezoelectric element for generation of the preliminary pressure jointed to the other end surface of the oscillator, and a pezoelectric element for driving force generation jointed to one of the side surface orthogonal to the traveling direction of the moving element in the oscillator. By applying a sinewave with a phase difference between a pressure-contact force generating piezoelectric element and a driving force generating piezoelectric element, the oscillator rotates in an ellipse form to drive a moving element in a linear form to drive the moving element in a linear form. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
