<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for driving an organic EL display, which is stable to user's eyesight and is superior in visibility and reduced in power consumption by automatically adjusting the luminance of the screen according to the state of various light in external environment. <P>SOLUTION: Included are a photoelectric conversion part 1 which senses the illuminance of light in external environment and converts the sensed light into an electric signal, an A/D conversion part 2 which converts the electric signal of the photoelectric conversion part from an analog signal to a digital signal, a comparison part 3 which compares the value of the electric signal converted into the digital signal with a previously set reference value, a control part 4 which controls at least one of a driving part and a power source part according to the comparison result, a driving part 5 which adjusts the quantity of a current applied to a display panel according to a control signal of the control part, and the power source part 6 which controls levels of voltages applied to the driving part and display panel 7 according to the control signal of the control part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
