<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a color filter for a display device in which widening of wet of coloring ink on an image receiving layer is controlled and there is no defects, such as color mixture between pixels, voids in pixels and which is excellent in density balance and pixel shapes of a color filter are clear and pixel edges are sharp. <P>SOLUTION: In a color filter formed by imparting coloring ink with an ink jet method at least on a transparent substrate and opening parts of a pattern shaped light shielding layer which is made by coating an image layer all over the pattern shaped light shielding layer formed on the transparent substrate, the contact angle of water-soluble aliphatic ester whose boiling point is 130 degrees or more and/or aliphatic ether system solvents at the surface of the image layer is made to be 30 to 60 degrees.
