PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for treating a spool for fiber using recycled gas. SOLUTION: The spool for fiber is placed in a chamber which can be sealed to expose it to the treatment gas. When the chamber is closed and sealed, the treatment gas is pumped into the chamber up to a specified pressure and temperature to react with the fiber. After reaction is completed, the gas is pumped from the chamber in order to facilitate the removal of the treated fiber. The gas can be evacuated with a vacuum pump and compressed to be stored in a pressure vessel for reuse. At this point of time, the gas can be analyzed. When the concentration of components is too low, the gas can be vented or can be enriched so that it may be recycled, otherwise it is compressed for storage and the process is repeated.
