PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic element comprising combination of a highest sensitivity layer having a linear characteristic curve, high speed and low granularity, and a medium sensitivity layer. SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic element comprises a support bearing a cyan dye image forming unit which comprises a red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a cyan dye forming coupler, a magenta dye image forming unit which comprises a green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a magenta dye forming coupler, and a yellow dye image forming unit which comprises a blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer containing a yellow dye forming coupler. One or more of the dye image forming units comprise layers different from each other in sensitivity, the highest sensitivity layer comprises a development accelerator and a silver halide emulsion, and the silver halide emulsion comprises tabular silver halide grains having two or more dye layers including (a) an inside dye layer close to the silver halide grains and comprising a dye (dye 1) which spectrally sensitizes the silver halide and (b) an outside dye layer close to the inside dye layer and comprising a dye (dye 2).
