PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt tension adjusting device having simple construction and allowing easy work for adjusting belt tension by effectively utilizing a dead space in an engine room. SOLUTION: The device adjusts the tension of a belt 15, which is wound on each of a driving pulley 11 fixed onto a crank shaft 10 of an engine 1, a driven pulley 12 fixed onto a driving shaft of a cooling fan 17 for the engine 1 and a tension pulley 13, with the movement of the tension pulley 13. An adjuster plate 30 is protruded sideward from the upper side of an engine body 1, an oblong hole 31 is opened to the adjuster plate 30, a mounting flange 20b as a supporting portion of the tension pulley 13 has one end pivotally supported on the engine body 1 and the other end slidably supported in the oblong hole 31 via a block 25, and an adjusting bolt 33 is threaded through the block 25.
