PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface plate that is easily manufactured and of which the deflection is reduced. SOLUTION: The surface plate is comprised of a cured material of a formulation containing (A) 100 pts. mass cement with a Blaine specific surface area of 2,500-5,000 cm<SP>2</SP>/g, (B) 10-40 pts. mass particulate with a BET specific surface area of 5-25 m<SP>2</SP>/g, (C) 15-55 pts.mass inorganic particulate with a Blaine specific surface area of 2,500-30,000 cm<SP>2</SP>and larger than that of the cement, (D) a water reducing agent, and (E) water. The surface plate has prestress introduced into the cured material. Preferably, the inorganic particulate (C) is comprised of 10-50 pts. mass inorganic particulate A having a Blaine specific surface area of 5,000-30,000 cm<SP>2</SP>/g, 5-35 pts.mass inorganic particulate B having a Blaine specific surface area of 2,500-5,000 cm<SP>2</SP>/g.
