PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably carry various kinds of medium such as a film and an ink ribbon, while maintaining appropriate tension independently of a carrying direction. SOLUTION: This carrying device for carrying the film, which is formed into a roll around rollers 605-1 and 605-2 and stretched between the rollers 605-1 and 605-2, by winding up the film around any one of the rollers, is provided with clutches 604-1 and 604-2 for transmitting rotation of motors 601-1 and 601-2 to rotary shafts for turning the rollers 605-1 and 605-2, a torque limiter B connected to the rotary shaft, and a torque limiter A connected to the rollers. When winding up the film, the clutch transmits the rotating force by the motor to the rotary shaft, and when delivering the film, the clutch does not transmit the rotating force to the rotary shaft. Power rate of the torque limiter is set so that the torque limiter A can effectively limit when winding up the film and that the torque limiter B can effectively limit when delivering the film.
