METHOD FOR PROMOTING ADHESION OF NITROGEN-FIXING BACTERIUM TO PLANT USING RADIATION TREATMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which reduces the amount of a chemical fertilizer used, is useful for environmental protection and efficiently grows plants by raising adhesion of bacteria to plant roots without impairing essential functions of plants and increasing nutrition acquisition such as nitrogen fixation, etc. SOLUTION: The method for raising adhesion of a nitrogen-fixing bacterium to plant roots comprises irradiation with a low-energy electron beam. The necessary parts of the surface layer of plant tissue are irradiated with a dose suitable for increasing adhesion of a nitrogen-fixing bacterium to plant roots is irradiated by controlling electron beam energy.
