The device has several sorting rollers (17 to 20) mounted on a revolving conveyor (16) and rotated against the running direction of the upper side of the conveyor. The conveyor has a number of openings for the objects corresponding to the number of rollers so that each sorting roller seizes the object (13) to be handled adjacent the cross edge which has been moved up. Seen in the running direction of the conveyor each sorting roller is mounted in the front of the opening and a downwardly aligned strip is mounted on the opposite side.
