<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a restraint time of a person to be certified by reducing the time required for total certifying process while picking up the certifying object image of the person to be certified and conducting personal certification. <P>SOLUTION: The certifying object image pickup unit is provided with a pickup means 3 which picks up the certifying object image of a body 1 to be photographed, a position detection means 7 which measures the distance to the body 1 and a control means 4 which selects either one of a first focus position control method that sets the focus position of the means 3 to a target focus position being determined by the measurement value of the means 7 or a second focus position control method that sets the focus position of the means 3 to the body 1 by an automatic focus process. In the above constitution, an image is picked up at high speed by executing the first method in lieu of the second method which takes more time to search for a focus position when a good certifying object image having low focusing degree is to be photographed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
