PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture data reproducing apparatus, method and program which can update or delete additional information added to picture data and to add information to picture data to which information is not added, contrary to a conventional picture data reproducing apparatus. SOLUTION: The additional information is stored in a specific part of a picture file and presence/non-presence of the additional information is judged from the presence/non-presence of such a specific area or from data in the specific area. Besides, the data in the specific area are updated or deleted to update or delete the additional information.
