PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery wherein an internal pressure rise is suppressed when initially charging it. SOLUTION: This nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is equipped with a vessel 1, a power generating element which is stored in the vessel 1 and contains a positive electrode 3, a negative electrode 4, and a nonaqueous electrolyte, a sealing member disposed at the opening of the vessel 1, a gas vent hole 15 opened in at least either one of the vessel 1 or the sealing member, and a valve film 16 to block the gas vent hole 15 and to make a hydrogen gas selectively permeate.
