A bobbin cradle comprises a U-shaped supporting frame 1, Fig. 1, the ends 2, 3 of the U being pivotally mounted about a supporting shaft 5, and the bobbin 11 being supported between the arms of the U at a location intermediate the shaft 5 and the transverse arm 4 of the U. The bobbin 11 is mounted between supports 8, 12 that project downwardly from the plane of the U, the support 12 being swing- able by means of a lever 14 away from the support 8 to permit a bobbin 11 to be removed and replaced by a fresh bobbin. The bobbin 11 rests against a driving cylinder 19 and as the package grows the U- shaped frame swings upwardly about the shaft 5. The end 3 of the U-shaped frame is supported in a mounting in the shaft 5 that includes fibre washers 47 exerting a damping effect. The spring 15 in Fig. 1 biasses the means holding the bobbin 11 against the bobbin.</p> |
