<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always stably output a high-quality fixed toner image by restraining the uneven gloss or offset of the fixed image by preventing the overshoot or undershoot of a thermal fixing member when a recording material proceeds into and departs from a fixing device in an image forming apparatus where an unfixed toner image t is formed and supported on recording material P and the recording material is introduced to a fixing means 100 having a heating means 12 so that the unfixed toner image is thermally fixed on the recording material, in particular, in a color image forming apparatus where the fixing device is a film heating type fixing device. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has: a recording material detection means 15 for detecting that the recording material exists at a specified position before the fixing means; and a control means for changing the control temperature of the heating means 12 of the fixing means 100 in response to a signal outputted by the detection means 15. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
