PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiplexer side terminal device capable of eliminating the necessity of providing a number of codecs having different systems to reduce a circuit scale and real-measured area in constituting the device by LSIs, and eliminating the necessity of providing the same codecs on all slave terminals to extend the degree of freedom of configuration of a slave terminal. SOLUTION: This terminal device is provided with an input/output selecting section 110 for performing bidirectional connection for a plurality of terminals, a plurality of codecs 111 having different systems, a plurality of buffers 115 having different channels, a changeover switch 114 for allowing one of the codecs to correspond to one of the buffers, a mulplexer circuit 116 used in common among the plurality of buffers, and a codec selecting section 112 for providing codec information deciding a codec for a slave terminal in a communication state to a changeover switch of the input/output selecting section. The input/output selecting section connects the slave terminal in the communication state to one of the codecs on the basis of the codec information from the codec selecting section, and the changeover switch connects a codec in a connecting state to one of the buffers on the basis of the codec information from the codec selecting section.
