PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire which has a high anchor effect of a carcass ply and can secure rigidity of a bead section without requiring an additional member. SOLUTION: The carcass ply 20 is formed of a steel cord 34 folded at both ends in the width direction and meandering and extending in a tire peripheral direction, and the folded ends 34A of the steel cord 34 are nonuniform in the tire radius direction at a ply end. Since the steel cord 34 is folded at the ply end, high anchor effect is obtained. The cord density per unit area around the folded part increases, so that the rigidity of the bead section can be increased. Since the folded ends 34A are nonuniform in the tire radius direction, the high rigidity part can be dispersed over the height direction of the bead section, and the rigidity of the whole bead section can be increased without using the other reinforcing member such as a cord layer.
