PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a function as NAS (Network Attached Storage) to an information processor. SOLUTION: A method is provided for installing software in a storage device controller having a file access processing part receiving a data input/output request in a file unit, which is transmitted from the information processor, through a first network, a channel control part having a circuit board where an I/O processor outputting an I/O request corresponding to the data input/output request with respect to a storage device is formed, a disk control part inputting/outputting data with respect to the storage device in accordance with the I/O request transmitted from the I/O processor and a second network connecting the channel control part and the disk control part so that they can communicate. The method has a step for writing software for functioning the file access processing part in the storage device by communicating with the channel control part through the second network.
