PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drying device capable of setting the web temperature to be a set value in a short time by a simple equipment even when the dimension of a web is changed. SOLUTION: In the drying device 12 to dry liquid coated on a continuously traveling web W, a pass roll in contact with the web W in a drying zone is a heating roll 32 to adjust the web temperature. A diamond-like carbon film is coated on a surface of the heating roll 32, and the temperature of the heating roll 32 is variably controlled. Thereby, the drying device 12 capable of setting the web temperature to be a set value in a short time by a simple device without damaging a web surface in contact with the heating roll 32 even when the dimension of the web W is changed is realized.
