<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup corresponding to two wavelength in which a part of the laser beams emitted respectively from two laser diodes can be detected by a single front monitor without partly reflecting or transmitting the laser beams with a dichroic beam splitter and a rise mirror. <P>SOLUTION: This pickup is provided with a light guide LG guiding both of a part of light being out of effective range out of the first laser beams made incident on a first dichroic beam splitter DBs1 and a part of the light outside the effective range out of the second laser beams transmitted through a second dichroic beam splitter DBS2 to the prescribed direction.
