<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant restraining and protecting device for a vehicle capable of shortening a time till locking. <P>SOLUTION: When determining the risk of collision, a control part operates a motor rotating in the takeup direction for a seat belt 3 and the take-up of the seat belt 3 is conducted, and when a collision is sensed, the control part stops the motor rotation, actuates a belt lock mechanism of a belt take-up device 4, and prevents the belt 3 from slacking by hindering the taken-up belt 3 from being drawn out. In this manner, wastefulness due to the belt 3 being drawn out against the takeup force of the motor after the collision has been sensed can be omitted by lowering the driving force of the motor once when the collision is sensed, so that it is possible to shorten the time from the collision till the drawout lock. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
