PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain medium information in a recording/reproduction device or reproduction exclusive device, even in the case of installing an information storage medium not responding thereto, at least without determining it as error, and acquire a further precise value on the basis of the obtained medium information. SOLUTION: This reproduction method of information storage medium record comprises a determination process for determining the medium type of the installed information storage medium, and a file system information acquisition process for acquiring, when the installed information storage medium is an information storage medium not responding to the recording/reproduction device or reproduction exclusive device as a result of the determination, file system information recorded in this information storage medium.
