PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a display component selection device which can select a display component for displaying a plurality of items collectively, and can select an appropriate display component according to an environment for providing a screen. SOLUTION: An item type DB 13 hierarchizes the type definition of each data item and an aggregation type for displaying the plurality of items collectively, respectively, and stores the resultants, and an item definition setting means refers to the item type DB 13, and assigns an appropriate aggregation type to a set T of the data items. An environment descriptor DB 14 stores an environment descriptor for defining an environment for providing an input/output screen, and an environment definition setting means 11 refers to the environment descriptor DB 14 to select a descriptor for representing the environment, and creates environment definition 17. A display component DB 15 stores display component definition based on the item type DB 13 and the environment descriptor DB 14. A display component selection means 12, on the basis of item definition 16, the environment definition 17 and the display component DB 15, selects an display component appropriate for the environment.
