RACK-AND-PINION TYPE STEERING DEVICE FOR VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack-and-pinion type steering device for a vehicle capable of precluding emission of striking sounds without causing a rise of the friction such as the working torque and suppressing a bending stress generated in a pinion shaft in a relatively small value while the degree of freedom in designing is well secured. SOLUTION: Pressure pads 20 are extended on both sides of the pinion shaft 4 and a rack bar 5 inside cylindrical parts 1a and 1b in their sliding direction while the pinion shaft 4 is inserted through a pinion shaft inserting hole 21 and the rack bar 5 is inserted through a rack bar inserting hole 22. The fitting length of the pressure pads 20 in the cylindrical parts 1a and 1b can be made larger than their outside diameters irrespective of the set load of a coil spring 7, which ensures a smooth sliding operation.
