PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod for a coating device preventing a flaw from being generated on a coating surface of a base material to be coated. SOLUTION: The rod 10 for the coating device is a rod used when a continuously traveling web W is coated with a coating liquid. In the rod, a coating film 14 of abrasion resistance is formed on a surface of a cylindrical mother material 12. The surface of the coating film 14 is subjected to a lapping treatment. Thereby, even if the web W is coated with a coating liquid using the rod 10 for the coating device, the flaw is prevented from being generated on the coating surface of the web W.
