The invention relates to a method for doping melts using hermetically sealed, thick-walled capsules whose shells consist of the same material as the melt to be treated. The capsules are thrown into a bath containing the melt, they sink to the bottom since they are denser than the melt, and there they open automatically, thereby releasing the dopant material contained therein under a layer of melt. The inventive method is especially suitable for cases where it is necessary to dope a melt with light-weight and/or chemically active substances. |
