<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for sharing vehicle, which enable a user to simplify a procedure for renting the vehicle, eliminate a possibility of illegal use of vehicle by the user, and can significantly reduce a cost for managing the shared vehicle within a defined area. <P>SOLUTION: The system for sharing the vehicle includes an individual vehicle management unit 20 for a vehicle, which receives information on the right to use the vehicles from a IC card 10 for storing the information on the right to use the vehicle with conditions to use the vehicle, and permits the user to use the vehicle based on the information on the right to use vehicle when the user rents the vehicle. The individual vehicle management unit 20 for the vehicle always compares a state of the vehicle used by the user with the conditions to use the vehicle, which are included in the information on the right to use vehicle, and also always monitors the state and the conditions.
