<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relax the decrease of the light quantity received from both ends of a bar code label, which occurs when a wide bar code label is read at a near position and to make a wide angle reading possible. <P>SOLUTION: The bar code reader is provided with a laser diode 1 which generates a laser beam, a galvanounit 3 which deflects the laser beam and scans the bar code label BL with the laser beam, and a photodetector 4 which receives reflected light from the bar code label BL. The galvanounit 3 has a first mirror 30 which deflects the laser beam and on which the light reflected from the bar code label BL is made incident, and a second mirror 31 which is arranged next to the first mirror 30 at a predetermined angle and on which a portion of the light which is reflected on the bar code label BL and is not made incident on the first mirror 30 is made incident. The photodetector 4 has a first photodetector element 40 which receives the light reflected from the bar code label BL via the first mirror 30 and a second photodetector element 41 which receives the light via the second mirror 31. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
