PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a muffler for controlling or fixing opening of an opening/closing valve by a motor control unit to improve exhaust performance and silencing effect. SOLUTION: A muffler device comprises: a motor attached to the muffler to operate the opening/closing valve; a motor selector switch switching between an automatic mode automatically operating the opening/closing valve in response to intake pressure of an engine, and a manual mode fixing the opening of the valve irrespective of the intake pressure; and a muffler main body. The muffler main body further comprises: (1) a pair of inner conduits having small openings in their peripheral faces and disposed in a casing which is partitioned into three chambers; (2) an exhaust pipe from an engine having the opening/closing valve therein, communicating with the casing, and having a discharge port narrowed in a flared shape; (3) a main exhaust pipe fixed on the discharge port of the exhaust pipe from the engine to form a main passage for an exhaust flow; and (4) a branched pipe connected to one of the pair of inner conduits to form a branched passage for exhaust.
