<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data decoding method capable of decoding without decreasing the decoding speed in a smaller circuit scale than a conventional decoder. <P>SOLUTION: In order to decode two variable length codes in one cycle, a table for DC components of a variable length code table decoder for decoding the second one of the two codes is shared with a table decoder for the DC components of the variable length code table decoder for decoding the first one of the two codes. At the time, the input part of the variable length code table decoder for the DC components and the output part of the second code are provided with a multiplexer and selection is made on the basis of the output of an intra-block final code detection part for detecting whether or not the first code is the final code. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
