PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical demultiplexing and multiplexing device which is superior in expansibility. SOLUTION: This optical demultiplexing and demultiplexing device is equipped with a rectangular translucent medium 1, a plurality of optical fibers 2 which are arranged at one end of the translucent medium, and at least one optical fiber 3 which is arranged at the other end of the translucent medium. At one end of the translucent medium 1, a transmission and diffusion part 4 is formed which diffuses light and in an area where the optical fiber is not arranged at the other end of the translucent medium 1, a reflection part 5 which reflects light (or a reflection and diffusion part which reflects and diffuses light) is formed. A plurality of such optical demultiplexing and multiplexing devices are provided and connected by optical fibers 3 to form a connection system of the optical demultiplexing and multiplexing devices.
