PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing an acrylamide water-soluble polymer having a low residual acrylamide monomer content, a high molecular weight and a good water solubility, wherein the method is specific in efficiently producing the polymer whose residual acrylamide monomer content is remarkably low. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the acrylamide polymer by aqueous solution polymerization, the polymerization is carried out in the coexistence of at least one azo compound having a 10 hr half-life temperature in the range of≥30°C and <70°C, and at least one azo compound having a 10 hr half-life temperature in the range of≥70°C and≤100°C. in an aqueous solution of a monomer, jointly with an ordinary redox initiator or a photoinitiator. After the obtained gel-like polymer is subjected to a specific thermal treatment at 70-100°C, it is dried and pulverized into the powdered polymer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
