PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent crops and flaws from entering the product of a taper plate without increasing the surplus amount of a slab being a base stock for the taper plate. SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing the taper plate having parallel parts at both ends in the longitudinal direction by taper rolling after performing flat plate rolling, by determining an effective side cross-sectional area in the longitudinal direction of the flat plate after the flat plate rolling and determining the surplus side cross-sectional area of the flat plate from difference between this effective side cross-sectional area in the longitudinal direction and the side cross-sectional area in the longitudinal direction of the taper product which is finally required, the taper rolling is performed so that cut off parallel parts are formed at both ends in the longitudinal direction of the tapered product to be rolled with this surplus side cross-sectional area.
