PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite casting article which is substantially free of internal structural defects and shape defects and a method for manufacturing such composite casting article of high quality. SOLUTION: A metallic vessel 20 in which a damping material 23 (for example, silica sand) is hermetically sealed is first prepared. The metallic vessel 20 is arranged in the prescribed position within the molding space of a casting mold and thereafter the damping material 23 is cast-in together with the metallic vessel 20 into the casting article by supplying a metal melt into the molding space. The composite casting article cast-in with the metallic vessel 20 internally hermetically sealed with the damping material 23 is thus obtained. According to the manufacturing method, the diffusion of the damping material 23 into the metal melt during the casting does not occur and since a binder and the like are not used, there is no need for a countermeasure against degassing.
