<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect amounts of color shifts with a smaller number of color shift amount detection sensors, to easily correct curves of scanning line axial trace, and to reduce the amounts of color shifts. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a pattern image forming part 31 which forms color shift detection pattern images in respective detecting positions; a color shift amount detection part 16 which detects color shift detection pattern images and reads amounts of color shifts by the relative positions of the pattern images; and an image-forming position adjustment part 32 which adjusts, based upon the amounts of color shifts, the positions in which the respective toner images are formed. The image-forming position adjustment part 32 has a storage part 32 for storing offset values for the amounts of color shifts. The adjustment part 32 adjusts the positions in which the respective toner images are formed, in such a way that the amounts of color shifts read in the respective detecting positions by the color shift amount detection part 16 are equal to the corresponding offset values. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
