<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio controlled timepiece capable of performing accurate time display in a short time at the initial time (for example, when a battery is inserted after being purchased by a user). <P>SOLUTION: This timepiece is provided with a power source part 200 for detecting input of an external battery 201, an internal clock 1401 for holding a clocked time by an internal battery 202, a second hand driving system 120 and an hour-minute hand driving system 130 for driving a second hand wheel, a minute hand wheel and an hour hand wheel having a plurality of reference positions and including a translucent part and a light shielding part, an optical sensor part 140 for detecting a detection signal corresponding to a reference position and a hand position of a hand wheel based on the translucent part and the light shielding part of the hand wheel, and a control circuit 140. The control circuit 140 drives the second hand driving system 120 and the hour-minute hand when detecting input of the external battery 201 by the power source part 200, and after phase adjustment corresponding to the detection signal of the optical sensor part 140 and after second hand origin retrieval and an hour-minute hand origin retrieval, sets the hand position of a hand wheel based on the clocked time by an internal clock 1401 and performs time display by the hand, and before input of the external battery 201 sets the hand position of the hand wheel between the plurality of refernce positions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
