PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent useless transmission path switching in a ring network system wherein transmission paths are duplexed. SOLUTION: When an external error detecting means 111 of an ADD side transmission apparatus 110 detects an error from data received via an input receiving means 101, error information indicating the detection is added by an error information adding means 112 and transmission data including the data are then transmitted to both the duplexed transmission paths by a ring transmission means 102. When the transmission data reach a ring receiving means 103 of a DROP side transmission apparatus 110 via the transmission paths, the error information is detected by an error information extracting means 114 and in accordance with the detected result, a switching judging means 115 suppresses switching of transmission paths by a routing selection means 104 regardless of the detected result of an internal error detecting means 113.
