PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position estimation method and device using GPS signals which makes calculations on the basis of pseudo-distances measured using time differences, even if the number of measurable satellites is three or less. SOLUTION: The position estimation device includes a receiver such as a GPS receiver for receiving the GPS signals, and a processor for determining positions according to the GPS signals received. The receiver receives a first GPS signal output from a first GPS signal at the first position of a first GPS satellite. The receiver receives a second GPS signal output from the first GPS satellite at the second position of the first GPS satellite. The position of the receiver is determined using the first and second GPS signals. A time difference between the two signals is used for calculating positions. Thus, the position of the receiver including the GPS receiver is determinable using four or less GPS signals output from three or less GPS satellites. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
