PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for automatically removing a cover from a birdcage for chickens alive placed on a carrying conveyor in a chicken processing factory. SOLUTION: This device for removing a cover from a birdcage is provided with the conveyor to be loaded with birdcages for chickens alive, a pair of first endless chains provided on both sides of the conveyor and having an inside travelling part for travelling in the same direction with the conveyor and for abutting on a pair of side walls arranged opposite to the birdcages placed on the conveyor, a pair of second endless chains arranged on both sides of the conveyor and over the first endless chains and having an inside travelling part for travelling in the same direction with the conveyor and for moving upward in relation to the conveyor and for reciprocating in the side direction for separating from the conveyor, and a plurality of claws fitted to the second endless chains with a fine clearance from each other and projected toward the center of the conveyor from the inside travelling part of the second endless chains, and to be engaged with a lock claw formed in a cover of the birdcage for chickens alive.
