PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently take out information held by a recording head. SOLUTION: This recorder performs recording by using a recording head having a recording element section for performing the recording and a memory block storing characteristic information. A command for acquiring specific information in the information held by the memory block is output from a control circuit in the body of the recorder. When a command control section in a carriage side control section receives the command, the command control section generates an access signal including an address for reading the information designated by the command from the memory block.
