PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bleaching external preparation composition giving low stimulation to the skin and having excellent skin whitening effect. SOLUTION: The bleaching external preparation composition contains a naphthol glycoside of formula (I) (G is a monosaccharide selected from glucose, fructose, mannose, galactose, xylose and N-acetylglucosamine or an oligosaccharide selected from maltose, cellobiose, gentiobiose, primeverose, rutinose, strophantobiose, raffinose, gentianose, melezitose, maltotriose, cellotriose and manninotriose).
