PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein frequency of occurrence of non-feeding jam increases when a paper sheet detection sensor is arranged at a determined position on a further upstream side from a conveyance means. SOLUTION: The paper sheet detection sensor 16 for detecting a paper sheet 12 fed by a paper supply roller 13 from a paper supply tray 10 is arranged on the further upstream side from a conveyance roller 27. When distance from turning-on of a paper supply clutch to one rotation of the paper supply roller 13 is A, distance from turning-on of the paper supply clutch to on position of the paper sheet detection sensor 16 is B, and distance from on position of the paper sheet detection sensor 16 to a conveyance roller nip part 18 is C, the paper supply roller 13 is rotated again unless paper sheet feeding amount when the paper sheet 12 turns on the paper sheet detection sensor 16 is A-B≥C.
