PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network connection device capable of dissolving security problems without causing failure even when utilizing an online application over a long period of time. SOLUTION: An ADSL router 101 is provided with an ADSL modem 201, a router 200 and a searcher 202. A search part 202 transmits an ARP request packet to all nodes on a LAN side line, and if there is no ARP response packet to the packet, it is determined that the nodes under activation are not present at all, PPPoE connection on a WAN side line is disconnected and the power of the ADSL modem 201 is disconnected. When there is the ARP response packet, it is determined that the node under the activation is present, the PPPoE connection on the WAN side line is established and the power of the ADSL modem 201 is supplied.
