PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium excellent in the electromagnetic conversion characteristic and having a small error rate after the travelling or after the high temperature storage, as to a high density magnetic tape. SOLUTION: The thickness of the magnetic tape is specified to 3.0-7.7μm, the thickness of the magnetic layer is specified to 0.005-0.15μm, and the total thickness of the magnetic layer and a primary-coated layer is specified to 0.2-1.2μm, then an electron beam hardenable resin is incorporated into at least the primary-coated layer and a back coating layer of the primary-coated layer, magnetic layer and back coating layer, then, acceleration voltage of the electron beam at the hardening of the primary-coated layer, magnetic layer and back coating layer is specified to 20 kV or higher but lower than 100 kV.
