PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automated guided vehicle system provided with a plurality of areas, an automated guided vehicle which carries articles within each area or between the areas and an area controller which controls the automated guided vehicle for each area, and capable of preventing the reduction in carrying efficiency in the area of a movement destination as much as possible even if the automated guided vehicle moves between the areas. SOLUTION: The ROM 81 of the area controller 8 stores a determination program, which compares the minimum number of a plurality of first guided vehicles 10A required in a bay 3 to be managed with the number of the first guided vehicles 10A existing in the bay 3 to be managed; and a movement-requesting program which requests the movements of the first guided vehicles 10A from the other plurality of bays 3 when the number of the first guided vehicles 10A existing in the bay 3 to be managed is determined to be smaller than the minimum number by the determination program.
